NEW! The Language Connections Institute (LCI) at PBCC launches the first Community Haitian Creole program. The program was developed in response to demands from the community, including business, government and nonprofit agencies in Palm Beach County that want to expand and better serve their customer base through enhanced communication. Community Haitian Creole classes use a non-academic approach to help participants "jump-start" their language skills and quickly begin speaking frequently used words and phrases for routine personal and professional interactions. Taught by native speakers of Haitian Creole, the class introduces students to the Haitian culture and phonetic system. It gives them the tools to navigate greetings, introductions and personal information, routine communication strategies, emergency responses, directions, and of course ordering in a Haitian restaurant! The Language Connections Institute also offers a variety of courses in ESOL, Spanish, French, Chinese, Portuguese, Sign Language and Braille Transcription.
