With a new name and new bachelor's degree options, we are refreshing the College brand identity elements (logo, seal, domain name, etc.) to signify the exciting new opportunities available to our students and community. We plan to formally unveil the new elements in January 2010, when the name Palm Beach State College takes effect.
A College-wide committee representing faculty, staff, students, trustees and alumni, is addressing various brand identity elements. The challenge is to communicate that the College has grown significantly to serve changing needs, while still keeping our open access mission at the core. We hope that you will be supportive of this important task and pleased with the results!
TRANSITION
Step 1: Name and logo use The College will continue to use the name Palm Beach Community College until January 2010, when the new name, Palm Beach State College, takes effect. Therefore, during the transition period, continue to use the name Palm Beach Community College in all verbal and written communications.
During the transition period, a transitional logo will be used in e-mails, Web sites, PowerPoint presentations, flyers, posters, etc., to continuously convey the message that a name change is coming. Take the time now to learn how to download this logo and incorporate it into your documents and communications.
Step 2: What about printing? To minimize reprinting, most brochures, flyers and posters will be printed in lower quantities during the transition phase. Employees are encouraged to keep using existing materials such as brochures, letterhead, envelopes, promotional logo items, etc. Avoid ordering reprints of these items until January or later when they can be refreshed with the new name and brand identity elements. The College also will be recycling as much as possible; however, employees should plan to use this transition phase to use up current inventories while the new elements are being developed.
Step 3: Weigh in! As new brand identity elements are being developed, students, faculty, staff, community and alumni will be asked to provide feedback and direction. Watch for the online survey to make your voice heard!
Step 4: Take stock College Relations and Marketing will help you to update your materials with the new name, logo, etc. To help us schedule these projects, please send a list of specific items that you will need updated to: crmarket@pbcc.edu. Production of new materials will not take place overnight, so be prepared for some overlap of old and new.
Step 5: Flip the switch! The District Board of Trustees will be asked to approve new brand identity elements at its January 2010 meeting. Shortly thereafter, the College will "Flip the Switch!" as Palm Beach State College with a celebration and unveiling of the new branding elements.
