Upward Bound is a pre-college prepartory program for youth in the 9th through 12th grades. It is academically designed to challenge high school students to develop the skills, study habits, discipline and necessary attitude/motivation required to succeed at a post-secondary institution. Moreover, Upward Bound offers a comprehensive, year-round program that is divided into two components: Academic year and Summer residential program.
Academic Year: Each year from October to May we conduct our Academic Instructions, which students meet at PBCC-Lake Worth Campus on the (1st & 3rd) Saturday of each month to receive supplemental instruction in Math, English, Science and Language. Also, SAT/ACT & FCAT test preparation classes are offered.
Summer Residential: The Upward Bound summer component consists of a six-week program, five of which are residential and one week is non-residential. During the non-residential time, students are attending student orientation, personal development workshops, some college tours and becoming familiar with the college processes of financial aid, admissions, student services and like. They also meet with student government leaders to discuss, process, and understand the necessary requirements to succeed in college.
