To receive most types of aid, you must: - be enrolled at PBCC as a degree seeking student in an eligible program of study.
- be enrolled in an eligible degree/certificate program (must meet the Standards of Academic Progress).

- be a U.S. citizen or U.S. National, or eligible non-citizen (as determined by INS status)

- register with the Selective Service,
- If required by law, you must register, or arrange to register, with Selective Service to receive federal student aid. The requirement to register applies to males who were born on or after January 1, 1960, are at least 18 years old, are citizens or eligible non-students, and not currently on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces.
- not be in default or owe an overpayment on previous federal aid
- show a financial need on the Student Aid Report (SAR).
- The EFC, provided on your Student Aid Report (SAR), is the dollar amount that you and/or your family are expected to contribute to your cost of education, according to Federal Methodology. The amount of need based financial aid a student can receive is the difference between the cost of attendence and the EFC.
Cost of Attendance (COA) - Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) = Financial Aid Each aid program has additional eligibility requirements, such as financial need or state of residency. Dependency Status A student is considered independent if he or she meets one of the following seven criterion: - Born before January 1, 1984.
- A veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.
- An orphan or ward of the court
- Have children who receive more than half of their support from you
- Have dependents other than a spouse or children who receive more than half of their support from you.
- Are married
Special Circumstances: Check with your financial aid administrator if you feel you have any special circumstances that might affect the amount you and/or your family is expected to contribute. The Financial Aid Advisor must validate any reasons to make any adjustments. Documentation will be required to determine adjustments if any. No adjustments will be made before October. Please see your campus Financial Aid Advisor on or after this date.
