Congratulations! You are a senior in Summer Youth College and will graduate this summer. Next year, you will be eligible to enter SYC’s Intern Program. Are you ready for such a huge responsibility? We want to help you. Join us for some life training just for you!
You must be 14 by June 22, 2009 to participate in the following classes.
Future Leadership Boca 2009
Join a growing network of teen leaders. Meet current local community leaders and experts in many key fields such as government, health care, environment, education, social services, business, public safety, the arts and media. Your facilitators are Todd Maki, a distinguished graduate of Palm Beach State College and Florida State University, and Katherine Van Brocklin, Vice-President and Branch Manager of Mercantile Bank.
This class is conducted primarily off campus. Transportation will be provided.
You must wear your FLB ’09 shirt and bring your FLB tote and binder to each class. (We will provide these).

Young Entrepreneurs
Get ready to be successful! Join Action Coach Carolina Boone to learn how to take ownership and responsibility for your actions and how to successfully plan and complete your goals so you can see your dreams come true. This is not just future stuff. By the end of the summer you will be able to apply the six steps for business success and the formula to increase organizational profit in your own life!

Speak up in Public
Speaking in public is said to be the biggest fear people have. After this class, it will not be yours! First, you will learn how to put your thoughts on paper. Then, you will learn how to present them at the head of the class. See how important body posture and facial expressions are as well as speed, pronunciation, tone and other speech concepts. Respect for yourself and others will grow as your skills improve. Your teacher is educator Anne-Marie Bouchard, mother of two SYC graduates, and current Debating Coach at Atlantic High School in Palm Beach County.

Dynamic Debating
Learn to debate like a professional, respectfully and with an open mind. This class will involve group work. Learn to listen and understand before you speak. Soon, you will have a better grasp on conflict resolution and problem solving while expressing your point of view. Your instructor is Anne-Marie Bouchard who insists you have fun while you learn! Ms. Bouchard is the current Debating Coach at Atlantic High School in Palm Beach County.

This class reflects the College's/SYC’s conviction in the value of our students. As SYC seniors you are our future community leaders. You must possess the knowledge and personal power that equips you to meet the challenges that lie ahead.
Future Leadership Boca 2009 is modeled after Leadership Boca and is presented in partnership with the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. As with the adult program, our SYC version is designed to educate YOU to be civic-minded and to be aware of and concerned about our community.
