Scholarship Hints
SCHOLARSHIP SEARCH

Where to look:
·Go Online – Take advantage of the free online scholarship searches.
·Your Community – Search your community to find organizations that might offer scholarships.
·School – Talk to your academic advisor or department faculty and staff.
·Private and Corporate Sponsors – Check with private or corporate agencies to see if they offer scholarships that you might qualify for.

Applying for the scholarship:
·Make a priority list – focus on deadlines and requirements.
·Gather all requested information.
·Follow the directions carefully.
·Double-check the requirements to make sure you qualify.

KEEPING YOUR SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility requirements:
·Many scholarships have eligibility requirements that need to be met in order to receive your award. Make sure you pay close attention to the eligibility requirement of each scholarship.

Renewal requirements:
·Many scholarships can be renewed each year. However, scholarships might have renewal requirements such as:
-Renewal application – your scholarship may require you to submit a new application each academic year
-Enrollment status – scholarships may require you to be enrolled in a minimum amount of credits. If you fall below the minimum enrollment requirements, you may lose the award.
-Grade point average (GPA) – you may need to maintain a minimum GPA in order to remain eligible.
-Field of Study – your scholarship may require you to be seeking a certain degree. Make sure you check with your scholarship donor if you plan to change majors.
